Aromatherapy

Let your mind and body feel calm and relaxed as you benefit from a treatment by a fully qualified Aromatherapist. Aromatherapy uses plant essential oils to create an aromatic blend for the needs of each individual client.  Essential oils, which are highly aromatic, are absorbed into the skin and are believed to affect the body on all levels - physically, mentally and even emotionally/spiritually. When combined with massage, which helps to soothe away muscular tension and improve circulation, an aromatherapy treatment can be either deeply relaxing or uplifting, depending on the oils and massage techniques used by the therapist.

One off treatments can be undertaken as a treat to enable deep relaxation or to uplift and stimulate the body and mind.

Regular treatments can help to improve sleep patterns, reduce anxiety and stress, strengthen the immune system, reduce muscular aches and pains and improve digestion and circulation. Treatments aim to treat the whole person by helping to restore the harmony of mind, body and spirit. The pure properties of the plant essential oils, together with the benefits of massage can complement other lifestyle and health choices and are NOT intended to be used in place of healthcare by an NHS professional.

Treatment options:

Aromatherapy -  essential oils are chosen and blended especially for you, combined with a light massage oil - the healing properties of the essences increase both the benefits and the enjoyment of the massage

Non aromatherapy - Massage movements with a light massage oil, may be more suitable for those with very sensitive skin.

The length of the appointment includes the time to undertake a brief consultation to ensure that massage is suitable for you and to decide which blend will be appropriate. This is included within the price of the treatment as per above.

What happens during a treatment?

After the initial consultation you will be able to disrobe and make yourself comfortable in private, a blanket and towels will be provided for your warmth and comfort on the massage couch. Modesty will be preserved at all times.

I usually use up to three different oils per massage treatment as each oil has different therapeutic properties and each oil can be selected to suit your individual requirements.

A few drops of the selected aromatherapy oils are blended with a carrier oil, usually grapeseed or sweet almond oil, before being applied to the skin. If a non aromatherapy treatment is chosen then the carrier oil is used on its own as a massage oil.

Treatments DO NOT include anything of a sexual nature.

After the treatment :

Massage encourage toxins to leave body systems, to help flush these out of the body it is important to drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol, caffeine or tobacco for at least 24 hours as these can add to the levels of toxins within the body.

To gain maximum benefit from the essential oils, and to give them time to be absorbed into your skin, please do not bathe or shower for, at least, 8 hours after the treatment.

I had a lovely 90 minute aromatherapy massage by Ruth. Ruth was very professional and obviously knows her stuff as paid special attention to areas where I have tight muscles. Highly recommended, I will definitely be going back. Very reasonable price for such a lovely treat!   H.A Feb 19
